Rick Gardner is
the Director of Percussion Activities
at Muhlenberg County High School in Greenville,
Kentucky. His duties
include Percussion Instructor and Percussion
Arranger for the Muhlenberg County High School
Marching Band, Director of the
Middle School and High School Percussion
Ensembles and private instruction for several
students in the area. Muhlenberg County
Percussion Ensembles under Mr. Gardner's
direction have received consecutive
distinguished ratings since their formation in
2003. Many of Mr. Gardner's percussion
students have received distinguished ratings at
solos and ensembles festivals and
have been members of area honors bands including
several members of the Kentucky All-State Bands. |

Rick Gardner
attended Muhlenberg
Central High School and Murray State University. His
percussion studies include Mr. Chuck Simons
and Dr. Tom Vanarsdel, both of
Murray State University. While at MSU, Mr.
Gardner participated in many ensembles including
principle timpanist for the Murray State
Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and
Brass Choir. He also played auxiliary
percussion, vibraphone and guitar in the Phi Mu
Alpha "Men of Note" Jazz Band and "Campus
Lights". He marched in the "Murray State Racer
Band" from 1975 to 1978, where he was the
percussion arranger and section leader for two
years. Mr. Gardner was also a charter member of
the Murray State University Percussion Ensemble. |

Mr. Gardner has
served on band camp staff for over 30 high school
band programs in Kentucky and Tennessee.
He is also active as an adjudicator in Western
Kentucky. He has held the position of Marching Percussion
Instructor at Calloway County High School,
Muhlenberg Central High School, Bremen High
School, Madisonville North Hopkins High School, Muhlenberg South High School
and Muhlenberg North High School. While at
Muhlenberg South he also served as assistant
director for the 2001 and 2002 Muhlenberg South
Marching Suns.
Mr. Gardner is
a member of the
Kentucky Music Educators Association,
Music Educators
National Conference, and the
Percussive Arts
Society. He is currently serving
as the Western Representative and Webmaster for the Percussive Arts Society
Kentucky Chapter.
